ICC Cotabato City (12 November) — The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (OWWA-ARMM), awarded Engr. Sambas I. Hassan, engineer from the province of Tawi-Tawi as this year’s regional winner in the search for Model OFW Family of the Year (MOFYA).
Mr. Hassan, worked as a successful project engineer at Saudi Arabia for many years and was able to help his family that made him qualified as an OFW model.
His prizes include P20,000 cash from GLOBE Telecom, P10,000 from Western Union, plaque of appreciation and certificate from OWWA.
With the theme “Parangal sa Matatag na Pamilyang OFW”, this year’s search focuses on the importance of family values and promotion of best practices
Engr. Hassan will represent the region in the national level competition of the MOFYA which will be held in Metro Manila, this month together with other 34 regional winners coming from seventeen regions in the country.
MOFYA is an annual award-giving project designed to give due recognition to outstanding OFW families, and promote best practices in achieving success in all aspects of their life in the face of overseas migration of one or more members of the household.
OWWA-ARMM said, this year’s version of MOFYA is also a departure from the previous MOFYAs because, instead of having a national winner from the three island groups, there would be two national awardees, which would come from the land-based and sea-based OFWs.
